REQUIREMENTS AND TECHNICAL TRENDS REGARDING HEAVY VEHICLES
ESIGENZE ED INDIRIZZI TECHNICI DEL'AUTOMOBILISNO INDUSTRIALE
This paper examines the possibilities of higher power for heavy lorries (with special regard to the climbing of steep gradients), and better transmission of increased engine power to the wheels. Emphasis is laid on the advantages of the supercharging of diesel engines, in conjunction with the thermic recovery of exhaust gases and efficient intermediary cooling of the compressed air. Reference is made to current trends towards gearbox improvements aimed at achieving greater flexibility for heavy vehicles. /TRRL/
