3D STABILITY ANALYSIS OF TUNNELS IN JOINTED ROCK

The stability of the tunnel face, stresses within the lining as well as the settlements of the surface are essential for a safe and economic design of a tunnel. The paper presents a mechanical model and corresponding finite element analysis suitable for the solution of these problems. The construction procedure as well as the mutual influence of the rock mass and the lining by this procedure can be simulated close to reality. The results of the illustrated calculations partly were compared with in situ measurements.
