THE ROLE OF THE MARINE SALVOR IN THE CONTROL OF WATER POLLUTION

The marine salvor by virtue of his business skills can assist in the reduction of pollution once a marine accident has occured. The Standard Lloyd's Open Form Salvage Contract requires modification if the salvor is to make an effort to reduce pollution before all else. Ship owners therefore must be prepared to quickly alter salvage contracts if pollution or the threat of pollution is to be put ahead of saving the vessel and its cargo.
