USE OF CHARACTERISTIC CURVES IN THE DESIGN OF ELASTOMERIC PAVEMENT SEALS
This paper describes and illustrates a relatively simple technique for predicting performance of and designing certain elastomeric seal sections. The approach relies on characteristic curves. The emphasis is on practical applications. The basic advantage of the approach is that the highway engineer can deal with a problem of nonlinear structural analysis without performing the analysis. The procedures suggested do not require anything more than a slide rule or a pocket computer. /Author/
