ESSAIS SUR BITUMES ET MATERIAUX BITUMINEUX 2 EME COLLOGUE IN TERNATIONAL RILEM - THEME: ADHESION - COHESION - RAPPORT GENERAL

The reports presented dealt with the following topics: (1) mechanism of adhesion and more specifically failure of the aggregate-binder adhesion, (2) adhesion tests; (3) adhesion dopes and their interest in road construction technology; (use of a polyamine-type of additive which is stable when subjected to heat; influence of two additives of the amine type on the adhesion of oxidized bitumen in the presence of limestone and granite and their stability; effectiveness of amido-polyamine-type of additives on various types of bitumen as regards the main mineralogical types and stability of these additives); (4) determination of the cohesion of bitumen and bituminous mixtures; (5) research on new sources of materials and binders, and on new characterisation tests; (6) influence of bitumen fraction on bitumen cohesion. The author concludes by observing that problems of cohesion and adhesion are far from being solved, and that surface active agents are increasingly used each time it is feared that disorders might occur through lack of adhesion. /TRRL/
