DEVELOPMENT OF COMBUSTION EQUIPMENT FOR NAVAL BOILERS
Full scale evaluation is reported of equipment able to burn up to 12 times 10 cubed lb/hr of distillate fuel (Dieso or Avcat) in a three-register installation at a furnace heat release rate of about 0.6 times 10 to 6th power Btu/cu ft hr. Between 40 and 100% fuel input, excess air requirements at the registers are measured to be less than 5% for a clear funnel, visible flame length about 5 ft, carbon monoxide recorded at the stack 0.1% or less and exhaust gas temperatures below 700 F (371 C).
