ANCHORAGE PORT SURVIVES NATURE
The harbor structures are supported by a unique pile system which incorporates batter piles. Successive stages of development have resulted in the construction of a petroleum terminal and three container/general cargo berths. In 1964, this wharf system was also one of the few structures to survive the world record earthquake which destroyed other routes to Anchorage.
