ACCURACY AND OPTIMIZATION IN THE ANALYSIS OF SHIP STRUCTURES USING FINITE ELEMENT METHODS
A review is presented on the finite element method as currently applied to static ship structural response problems. Evidence in favour of simple elements is given and discussed in connection with automated data generation and the idealization of structures for efficient computerized analysis.
