QUICK-SETTING WOLLASTONITE PHOSPHATE CEMENT
An extensive materials evaluation program resulted in the development of a quick-setting wollastonite phosphate cement. More than 750 neat paste mixes were formulated from mixtures of various raw materials posders and buffered and unbuffered phosphoric acid solutions. Evaluations of setting time and aqueous solubility were made, and compressive strength was determined only for the mixes with acceptable preliminary properties. The most promising mixes, consisting of wollastonite powder and buffered phosphoric acid, set in liss than 30 min, had no visual solubility. Selected physical properties of these quick-setting cements were compared with type III portland cement data.
