WINTER NAVIGATION, SOVIET STYLE
The Soviet Union has developed and is continuing to expand a fleet of icebreakers to extend winter shipping along the Arctic route. With the addition of Finnish and Soviet built icebreakers (including nuclear powered) the Soviets have extended the navigational period to seven months. Description and listing is given of Finnish built Soviet icebreakers.
