TELEVISION TECHNIQUE AIDS UNDERWATER SALVAGE
An underwater television camera capable of taking clear pictures under "half moonlight" conditions has been developed to facilitate salvage operations. Trials by the British Department of Trade and Industry and the Marine Technology Support Unit with the midget submarine PISCES showed its usefulness. Pictures were transmitted to a mother ship on the surface and the method is expected to reduce considerably the time required to locate and identify wrecks on the sea bed.
