OBSERVATIONS ON THE LUBRICATION OF LARGE DIESEL ENGINES AT SEA
This paper deals with some aspects of design and operation which have a direct bearing on the wear processes of cylinder liner and piston rings of large bore diesel engines. The observations discussed were obtained from a relatively older generation of engines, which, however, still power a large number of vessels in service. In the authors' opinion, the conclusions drawn from their experiences are of a general nature and quite pertinent to lubrication and design of current and future engines.
