JAPANESE MINIMUM CREW VLCC
The Japanese Ministry of transport has undertaken a study of a 237,000 tdw vessel, to be operated by a ship's company of 9. A motorship, in long haul service, she will have 9 small electronic computers for control purposes. The captain, six officers and two seamen will be sufficient to navigate, control machinery functions, load and unload the tanker.
