CONSTRUCTION OF LARGE LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS TANKERS WITH INTEGRATED TANKS MADE OF CRYOGENIC INVAR
CONSTRUCTION DES GRANDS METHANIERS A CUVES INTEGREES EN INVAR CRYOGENIQUE
After a general review of the techniques used in the construction of large liquefied natural gas tankers and low-temperature steels employed for this purpose are dealt with taking into account the temperature gradients occurring as a result of the double hull of the ship and the mechanical properties required. The welding processes employed in the hull construction are discussed. Detailed attention is then given to the design and construction of welded tank partitions made of cryogenic invar.
