INVAR ALLOY PROVES WORTH FOR LNG TANKER APPLICATIONS
Because of its ductility, toughness, stable characteristics at low temperatures and good weldability, Invar (containing 0.1% C, 36% Ni, 0.3% Mn and Fe balance) is one of the most suitable alloys for cryogenic applications. Article describes specially developed technique of building LNG tankers using Invar membrane system.
