MODULAR PANELS SPEED BRIDGE DECK REPAIRS
The paper reports how fast replacement of worn bridge deck panels with prefabricated units in a one-to-one tradeoff at night met a tight repair deadline without halting daytime and evening traffic over the busy structure. Working under lights, two 16-ton, 16 X 20-ft. panels were removed each night and immediately replaced with fully-concreted modular units equipped with beams, grating, curb plates, and railings.
