EQUIPMENT DEVELOPMENT - INCINERATION AND SEWAGE TREATMENT
The paper outlines the principles of various systems for disposing of shipboard garbage, oil sludge and sewage, in accordance with the recommendations of Annex IV and Annex V of the IMCO 1973 COnvention. These include incineration units, biological units, physical/chemical systems, chlorinator/macerator systems, etc. The advantages and disadvantages of each are briefly discussed.
