MASS-PRODUCTION SHIP FORTUNE

"Fortune", IHI's second Mass-produced type multi-purpose single deck dry cargo vessel subsequent to "Freedom", has been developed in collaboration with G.T.R. Campbell (International) Ltd., a Canadian shipbuilding consultant. Same as "Freedom", "Fortune" is very economical in operation and initial cost for its high quality, and she is suitable for carrying bulk and piece cargo such as grain, coal, ore, lumber, steel products, containers and cars as well as any kind of general cargo. In the stage of design development, all the experience obtained through the "Freedom" project has been executed in the field of rationalization and labor-saving. Many new ideas and contrivances are incorporated in "Fortune", and their combination gives the vessel numerous availabilities-the combination of Universal Cargo Gear, Universal Hatch Cover and large hatch opening enables fast and easy cargo handling and the double upper deck type side tank and feeder pipe ensures grain stability as well as larger hold capacity.
