INTEGRATED NETWORK ARCHITECTURE AND ITS: A PERFECT FIT

The current trend in communications architecture is network integration: combining previously separate networks, such as voice, data, video and LAN/WANs, into a unified whole with a single network management system for all types of traffic. An integrated network architecture will also often require less equipment than separate networks. Integrated networks are the ideal architecture for most ITS applications. However, few ITS networks have been able take advantage of integrated network architecture because of unresolved issues in trying to integrate video and Lan traffic. Recent advances in technology finally allow ITS networks the chance to reap all the benefits of a truly integrated network architecture. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
