GENERALIZED ITS MODELLING FOR IMPROVED INTERMODAL INTERFACE

The paper introduces fundamentals of a new, generic traffic theory, based on general systems methodology, in order to facilitate the problem-solving in the domain of intermodal interface. The generalized model of transport (traffic) system is developed, based on two fundamental functions of transport (traffic) systems: the function of changes of the transport entity location attributes, and the function of control of transport entity inherent age. It is shown that the transport entity age depends on predetermined transport entity life time, and transport conditions in the respective transport (traffic) system. A short demonstration is made (by method of classification) how the integral traffic theory may help in problem-solving of intermodal interface of a variety of transport and traffic modes in intelligent transport systems.
