THE DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PLANAR ANTENNAS FOR 77GHZ MILLIMETER WAVE SENSOR

This is concerned about the design and fabrication of planar antennas for 77GHz millimeter wave sensor for autonomous cruise control. Microstrip patch array antenna is selected as a proper structure for this system and Ensemble simulator was used to design this antenna. First of all, the microstrip rectangular patch antenna with a linear-polarized wave is designed. Through extention to array structure from this element, microstrip patch array antenna is constructed. Parallel feeding method is selected as one of feeding methods and to reduce the sidelobe level, tapering method is used. The required specification of the antennas is satisfied to the proposed design. Since the transmitter outputs the power through a WR-12 waveguide, a good waveguide-to-microstrip transition is needed to feed power to the antenna. The waveguide-to-microstrip transition is implemented through an aperture in common wall of rectangular waveguide. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
