ANALYSIS ABOUT ROUTE CHOICE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DRIVER BY QUESTIONNAIRE INVESTIGATION

Thanks to progress made in data communications technology, a wealth of information can now be provided to drivers. Nonetheless, to make such traffic information more effective, it is necessary to examine the affect of traffic information on route choice by drivers. The Survey and Research Committee for the Presupposition of Traffic Flow Variations of The Japan Traffic Management Technology Association has analyzed the results of questionnaires on the characteristics of route choice by drivers. In this paper analysis is made of the degree of influence on drivers' route choice or route shifting factors by converting them into travel time, assuming them to be the psychological costs borne by drivers.
