PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCH AND ATMS: SYNERGISM AT ITS BEST

The two most critical systems in terms of ensuring the safety and efficiency of the traveling public are those for managing emergency vehicle dispatch and for transportation management. Working hand-in-glove these two entities are responsible for rapid and efficient implementation of incident management and congestion mitigation strategies from the transportation management perspective and for rapid response and processing of public safety related situations occurring on or supported by the infrastructure. Currently the vast majority of these systems work in separate but cooperative parallel. With the ever increasing deployment of highly capable Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS) and Public Safety Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, there is an opportunity to forge a far more effective interconnect.
