This study suggests risk assessment model for comparative degree of risk in truck hazardous materials (hazmats) transportation. The model is mainly focused on the analysis on finding the level of risk along the roadways and on performing a minimum risk route analysis as one of mitigation measures to reduce the identified risks. The proposed model is applied to highways in Chungnam District in Korea for a case study. This case study is based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. Finally, it also suggests several GIS techniques to facilitate data collection and dissemination, and to improve the quality of data. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
