CEMENT-BASED SOLIDIFICATION OF DREDGED SLUDGE

Important volume of contaminated or partially contaminated dredged sludges is devoted to disposal at sea or landfarms. The reuse of dredged sludges as building material obtained by solidification/stabilization techniques constitutes a new way. These techniques improve the physical and mechanical properties of the dredged sludges and check the pollution migration. This paper discusses the solidification of the dredged sludge by cements. Three main parameters are taken into account: the cement contents from 5 to 60%, the type of cements, and cure conditions. The parameters influence is studied by physical and mechanical indicators such as compressive strength, water content after solidification, and porosity.
