In Belgium, weighing vehicles in motion has been practised through the experimental instrumentation of an interchange (at Daussoulx) between two European motorways (E42 and E411). The systems were installed four years ago, in two types of pavement (one rigid, the other semi-rigid). The putting into service of a data collection centre made it necessary to perform a calibration and classification test on the systems. The application of the specification developed in COST 323 revealed some failures or malfunctions of the systems and some defects of the sites, affecting the accuracy of measurement. This did not, however, prevent the sites from being selected for statistical traffic management purposes. The results of this first experiment will be used as a reference to instrument other sites in the network. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102667.
