ETHANOL/DIESEL FUEL MIXTURE: SSEV'S PROJECT IN STAGE 2

BLANDBRAENSLE ETANOL/DIESEL: SSEV'S DELPROJEKT I ETAPP 2

The aim has been to facilitate the future introduction of a blend of diesel-emulsifier-ethanol as a vehicle fuel. Fleet trials have been carried out where the vehicle was driven with a blended fuel and driveability was documented. Acceptance of the fuel on the part of those who deal with and drive the vehicle has been investigated by driving the vehicles on a daily basis. The exhaust gases of the vehicles have been investigated by means of a chassis dynamometer in order to ascertain the level of emissions, when driving in traffic, as compared with the emissions from present day diesel driven vehicles. Tests have been carried out to show that the driveability of the vehicles is satisfactory when using the chosen 15 percent blend oflethanol and that fuel consumption is not significantly altered as compared to fuel consumption when using present day diesel fuels. The reaction of the drivers has been positive. The measured emissions showed that particulate emission was greatly reduced while there were relatively small changes in the other emissions and that these varied due to which vehicle was being measured and when the measurement was carried out.
