DEMENTIA AND THE OLDER DRIVER

Dementing disorders may contribute substantially to the increased crash risk and crash related fatalities associated with advancing age. This article provides an overview of what is known about dementing disorders and driving safety, the relevant clinical domains, and the assessment and management of the demented driver. Ethical and policy implications and future direction also are discussed.
