This paper describes an Internet-based public transit information system which is linked to an existing public transit database. This facility is part of a County-wide policy aimed at providing quality public transport systems to reduce car usage and encourage public transport use. The system has demonstrated a positive shift in attitude towards public transport. In the long-term this will lead to a mode shift towards public transport. This approach, which is readily transferable to any other regions, is to be extended through linkage with other local, regional and National service providers. It has been evaluated, using the CONVERGE guidelines, alongside other projects within the DG XIII-funded TABASCO project. This demonstrates the importance of a synergistic approach.
