SEPTA REGIONAL RAIL MAINLINE BRIDGE AND CATENARY IMPROVEMENTS: SUBURBAN TO 30TH STREET LOCATIONS
The Mainline Schuylkill section of SEPTA's regional rail main line extends approximately one mile (1.6 km) between 30th Street Station and Suburban Station. All regional rail trains operate over this segment, where weekday traffic volume exceeds 500 trains. This paper discusses the project encompassing the design of the replacement of the catenary system between Suburban Station and 30th Street Station and the rehabilitation of the seven bridges and associated structures between the 20th Street tunnel portal just west of Suburban Station and 30th Street Station. New lighting, security fencing and other site improvements are also included.
