PLACING AND SHRINKAGE AT EXTREME TEMPERATURES

The environmental conditions in many arid and semi-arid regions of the world significantly influence the properties of fresh and hardened concrete. The main problem posed by arid conditions is plastic shrinkage and cracking. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of hot weather on the evaporation of surface water and plastic shrinkage cracking in concrete. The data developed in this study will be useful in formulating guidelines for concreting under environmental conditions not covered by ACI 305.
