NEWARK FIRST CITY IN NEW JERSEY TO GET NEW LED TRAFFIC LIGHTS

Newark becomes the first city in New Jersey to install LED traffic signals to meet new national standards for LED signals. The new LED lights will have a lifetime of more than 100,000 hours, as opposed to the existing bulbs' 5,000 hours. LED lights also save energy and money because they use solid-state technology to generate light instead of traditional incandescent light bulbs. The lights will be fitted into existing traffic light housings.
