INTERACTIVE MODELING ENHANCES CINCINNATI HIGHWAY RECONSTRUCTION

The ongoing Fort Washington Way highway reconstruction project in Cincinnati, Ohio is a demonstration of how computer imaging technology can influence a design process. Content from the Fort Washington Way 3D database, produced at an initial cost of $30,000, became the backbone of a video animation that explained the environmental mitigation plan. This plan resulted in the project being granted a categorical exclusion by ODOT. The model and video were also key selling tools, generating broad-based support for the project from city officials, local businesses, and residents at public hearings and information meetings.
