A PROBLEM WITH STOCHASTIC TRAFFIC SIMULATION PROGRAMS UNDER NON-STATIONARY CONDITIONS

A problem occurring when calibrating, validating or running a microscopic simulation program of a rather highly stochastic traffic system is addressed, and is illustrated with the example of the simulation of traffic at a toll-plaza operating with non-stationary traffic conditions near capacity. It concerns the non-applicability of commonly used techniques of output analysis.
