THE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN CACHE COUNTY. FINAL REPORT

Many rural areas share significant obstacles in providing transit services for people with disabilities, and compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not guarantee that these services are well designed or carried out. This project was designed to reach the following goals: to develop a simple, low cost procedure for estimating the demand for public transit services for people with disabilities; to determine the trip and transit service characteristics; and, to develop a framework for evaluating transit service performance from the perspective of both users and operators. The product of the project is a geographic information system (GIS) that can be readily updated and accessed by system designers and other interested parties; information is available for ridership, accessibility, and user needs.
