NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF EXPERIMENTS IN ARCH BRIDGES

Two methods specifically designed for the analysis of masonry arch bridges - the Cardiff Energy Method and the Non-linear Generalised Matrix Formulation - are presented and discussed with regard to their ability to simulate the ultimate response of several different experiments carried out on arch bridges. Both methods are intended to provide versatile tools of analysis, well adapted to the ultimate analysis of masonry constructions, but requiring very moderate computer resources.
