HOW ADMIXTURES AFFECT SHRINKAGE AND CREEP

This article summarizes the findings of a detailed review of experimental test data on elasticity, creep, and shrinkage of concrete containing chemical and mineral admixtures presented at the ACI Fall Convention at Atlanta in 1997. The main purpose of this review was to assess any common effects on deformation of these types of the admixtures: plasticizers (water reducers), superplasticizers (high-range water reducers), blast furnace slag, fly ashes, and silica fume.
