ON THE SUBSTITUTABILITY OF COMMUNICATION FOR TRANSPORTATION: A SELECTIVE ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

This bibliography is an attempt to place at the practitioners fingertips a listing of some of the more comprehensive Canadian works as well as other some general listings in the field of substitutability. Section II entitled Human Interaction contains a listing of those readings which deal with the effects of substitution on society, from the individual to the global scale. The Future Outlook, Section III, contains those readings dealing with the subject of new social values, institutions and lifestyles brought about by certain technological innovations. Section IV entitled Modes of Communication Technology deals primarily with the major modes of communication (computers, cable- television hook-ups and computer-cable developments). Section V, Transport-Telecommunications Substitution, deals specifically with concept of substitutability of communications for transportation and its effects within the urban area. /Author/
