ELECTRONIC TOLLS ON FAST TRACK FOR N.Y. TREK
This article describes plans by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to start collecting tolls electronically at its bridges and tunnels by the middle of 1997. The Authority awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin IMS and Parsons Brinckerhoff to develop an automated toll collection system. The developed system will be compatible with systems already in use by the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority and the New York Thruway as well as systems to be installed on New Jersey and Pennsylvania toll roads
