COLLISION AVOIDANCE IN VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
Presents new and comprehensive strategies for on-line collision avoidance by an autonomously operating vehicle. In this system, when danger of collision suddenly occurs, the board acts independently and initiates maneuvers to avoid the collision. The vehicle is exclusively sensor guided. The collision avoidance strategy assumes that all other vehicles are non-cooperating obstacles. The collision avoidance strategy is based on a hierarchically structured concept of automated vehicle guidance.
