IHC Holland has recently handed over the cutter suction dredger MASHHOUR to the Suez Canal Authority in Egypt. The MASHHOUR is said to be the largest and most powerful cutter suction dredger of its kind in the world, and was designed to dredge very abrasive sand with gravel, compacted sand, sticky clay and rocks in the widening and deepening of the Suez Canal to allow even larger ships to pass. A general arrangement drawing is included in the article.
