INCREMENTAL LAUNCH: THE STONEY TRAIL BRIDGE
The Stoney Trail Bow River Bridge in Calgary, Alberta, is Canada's first segmental concrete bridge utilizing the incremental launch method (ILM) of construction. This structure is the featured element of a $48 million (CAN) project forming the first leg of a long awaited northwest perimeter transportation corridor for the city. The bridge not only spans the Bow River, but also one of the city's oldest parks, as well as an environmentally sensitive stand of Douglas fir trees.
