THE TEMPE BIKEWAY STUDY

The Tempe bikeway study started in the autumn of 1971, and consisted of four phases: survey, background data gathering, design and review. Each of these four phases is described briefly. In all, 80 miles of bikeways will be constructed. About 10 miles of bicycle paths and two miles of bicycle lanes have been now constructed. The Tempe bikeway will give a substantial, comprehensive commitment to bicycling, and a safer, pleasant cycling environment for Tempe's estimated 70,000 cyclists. /TRRL/
