The experience acquired during the construction of high dams with a clay or soil-cement core has led to modifications in the planning of medium or high dams with an asphaltic concrete core. Laboratory triaxial tests were carried out together with pressure at rest tests and variable loading tests. Wider controls of watertight cores were performed on real dams. Details are given of the design, calculation and construction techniques used. /TRRL/
