COMPUTERIZED ENGINE ROOM AUTOMATION AND CONDITION MONITORING

In February 1973 the ship M/T "Thorsholm" was delivered to owners A/S Thor Dahl of Sandefjerd, Norway, from Chiba Yard of the Mitsui group. The "Thorsholm" was equipped with the first Data Chief system which was one of the first commercially available systems offering Computerized Engine Room Automation and Condition Monitoring. This paper describes some of the experiences gained from the first 9 of these systems.
