Hydrologic parameters including water and sediment flow are being monitored in 5 adjacent watersheds where different types of erosion control measures are being used to prevent soil exposed by the construction activity from entering the stream system. The sediment control methods are described and the data collection is detailed. The on-site holding devices, such as the offstream ponds in one basin, appeared to be the most effective method of sediment (clay constituted the bulk of the sediment load) of sediment control. Seeding and mulching have a minor effect on sediment production until vegetative growth is well established. The placing of the subbase had a major effect on sediment production due to the large exposed area involved.
