CONTROL PHILOSOPHY FOR CARGO HANDLING SYSTEMS FOR CRUDE OIL TANKERS AND PRODUCT TANKERS
The paper deals with the application of logic dependences between all the components necessary for loading or discharging a tank ship, to compose a chain which has served as basis for the development of a computer programme. It is provided that the operational fundamentals of the components are known so they are only summoned up. Special attention, however, is drawn to the importance of every logic link in order to enable easy and early preventive measures in case of contradictions. There is no restriction to the number of pumps to run simultaneously nor to the tank of destination for the cargo except given by geometries. Tanks may also be handled in pairs. Examples are discussed and constraints are shown up.
