A SYSTEMS EVALUATION SIMULATOR FOR ADVANCED MARINE VEHICLES

The evaluation of performance of Advanced Marine Vehicles is time consuming and costly, particularly with regard to its intended purpose or mission. The test phase of each prototype vehicle covers several costly years. It is often difficult to schedule realistic environmental test conditions. Advances in math modeling and minicomputers will permit testing and evaluation in parallel with the vehicle test program. Independent conclusions drawn in an earlier time frame can be used to evaluate the test vehicle. This paper describes an application of simulation technology which will predict results at an earlier date and at lower cost.
