MODEL FOR EFFICIENCY OF SOIL FLUSHING USING PVD-ENHANCED SYSTEM

The authors developed a predictive model for drain-enhanced soil flushing. Findings from a parametric study suggest that, as depth of the contaminated zone increases, the time required to attain 50 percent clean up level increases. Findings also show the sensitivity of the predicted contaminant concentrations to variations in the partition coefficient and radial and vertical dispersivity. Analyses and results presented here demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed model for predicting the soil flushing rate using a PVD-enhanced system.
