NATIONAL TRAVEL SURVEY 1993-95

The survey contains the response from 10,182 households during the period January 1993 to December 1995. Personal information is provided (eg age, sex, working status and driving licence holding) and details of travel made over a period of seven consecutive days. Details include purpose, method of travel, time of day and length of journey. A basic set of tables on personal travel in Great Britain is given. These include travel mileage, the number of journeys, car ownership and the average speed of personal travel. The report contains separate sections on travel in London, commuting journeys and travel of the elderly. Background information on the survey is given in a series of appendices, including definitions, analysis variables and comparisons with other sources. Examples are given of the Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) questionnaires used in the survey.
